He is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in the state as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Missouri, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th and 11th Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He also holds certification from the National Board of Trial Advocacy in criminal trial law.

Highly active in his legal community, Mr. Holthaus is a member of numerous local, state and national bar associations and their committees, and he currently serves as governor-appointed chairman for the Louisiana Public Defender Board. He also serves on the adjunct legal faculty at the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, and he has written extensively and conducted lectures across his region on a variety of legal topics.

Nationally recognized as one of the country's top trial advocates, Mr. Holthaus holds an AV Preeminent* peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and he earned the Lifetime Achievement Award from America's Top 100 Attorneys.
