    Frank Holthaus is a litigator focusing on federal criminal and civil litigation as well as state court personal injury.     Criminal defense:  virtually any type of serious federal felony charge including accusations of tax fraud and/or evasion, pension plan fraud, RICO, industrial espionage and/or trade secret theft, anti-trust, corrupt foreign practices act, Medicare and Medicaid Fraud, interstate transportation of stolen things, deprivation of a citizen's civil rights by murder, career criminal enterprise and many others.

    Civil litigation: representing plaintiffs and defendants involving a broad array of federal issues such as whether Article III courts have jurisdiction over flood control disputes between contiguous political subdivisions, land-based contract disputes, maritime contract disputes, Jones Act disputes, CERCLA, RICRA general environmental litigation, federally funded contract, and subcontract fraud litigation, and more.  

    In class action litigations, Holthaus has litigated federal class actions representing plaintiffs in some and defendants in others.

    Mr. Holthaus obtained his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1975, after which he served as a law clerk to Associate Justice John A. Dixon, Jr. of the Louisiana Supreme Court.  He is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in the state as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Missouri, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th and 11th Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court. 

    Highly active in his legal community.  He also serves on the adjunct faculty at the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center where, for over 12 years, he has taught litigation.  Mr. Holthaus is a member of numerous local, state, and national bar associations and their committees and currently serves as governor-appointed chairman for the Louisiana Public Defender Board on which he has served for 10 years.

    Nationally recognized as one of the country's top trial advocates, Mr. Holthaus holds an AV Preeminent* peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and he earned the Lifetime Achievement Award from America's Top 100 Attorneys. He remains active in his local community through his involvement with the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge as well as with various youth sports programs and Catholic organizations. He also served his country as a merchant marine from 1971-1972.
