Attorney Profile

As a partner with Baton Rouge-based Carleton Hebert Wittenbrink & Shoenfelt, LLC, Carmen represents clients in the Gulf Coast region, as well as throughout the United States. While her primary focus is business litigation, Carmen handles a variety of tasks for business clients outside of court. This includes forming and acquiring business entities, drafting organizational documents or other contracts, negotiating commercial leases, and addressing employment issues head on. She also assists clients in the construction industry with liens, defect claims, and contract disputes. Carmen is known among her clients and peers for her outstanding written and oral advocacy skills and high professional ethics. She has tried dozens of cases in city, state and federal courts in Louisiana.

After receiving her Bachelor of General Studies from Louisiana State University in 2007, Carmen earned her Juris Doctor from the Louisiana State University Law Center in 2010, where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. While in law school, Carmen earned nine CALI awards. She was selected to be a member of the Louisiana Law Review, where she served as a Senior Editor for Volume 70. As an active participant in the moot court program, Carmen competed on the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot team in Vienna, Austria, and on the National Moot Court team, and she was named to the Wex. S. Malone chapter of the American Inns of Court. She also worked as a research assistant for Professor Emeritus George W. Pugh on the 2010 and 2011 editions of the Handbook on Louisiana Evidence Law. Ms. Hebert continues her work with the Handbook, assisting authors Robert Force and Gerald Rault with production of the book each year.

Carmen Hebert is admitted to practice law before all Louisiana state and federal courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She served as a Junior Member of the Louisiana Law Institute in 2012. Beginning in 2014, Carmen has been named to the Rising Stars list every year. In 2016, the Litigation Counsel of America, an honorary society for trial attorneys, chose Ms. Hebert as an Associate Fellow.
