As senior partner at Longman Jakuback in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jacob Longman focuses his practice on criminal defense, white collar crimes and appellate advocacy. Serving clients across Louisiana, he provides vigorous counsel in matters including assault and battery, domestic violence, drug and alcohol violations, murder, sex offenses and traffic violations, among others. With nearly a decade of experience in the legal sphere, he stays committed to ensuring that his client’s rights are protected.
Completing his undergraduate degree in history and literature from Louisiana State University, Mr. Longman went on to attend the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center to hone his advocacy skills. To further strengthen his legal foundations while in law school, he gained early experience working as a law clerk in the 19th Judicial District and as an intern and investigator at the East Baton Rouge Office of the Public Defender. He received his Juris Doctor in 2017, and a year later, he obtained his license to practice law in Louisiana.
His experience as a public defender acted as groundwork for Mr. Longman to open his law firm with Kathryn Jakuback Burke in 2017. Ever since, he has worked on numerous cases and acted as co-counsel on more. Further being admitted to appear before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana, he provides aggressive advocacy at all levels of the judiciary. As a criminal defense attorney, he holds no prejudice in the cases he handles and strives to reduce charges or win acquittal.
As an active member of the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Baton Rouge Bar Association, Mr. Longman toils to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field. His continuous efforts to provide his clients with recent knowledge and aggressive advocacy garnered him an inclusion in the Top 40 Under 40 list by the National Trial Lawyers.
