Jacob Longman is a Baton Rouge criminal defense attorney and co-founding Partner of Longman Jakuback, APLC. He defends clients facing serious state and federal charges, including violent crimes, white-collar and financial fraud, sex offenses, drug offenses, and grand jury investigations. He is admitted in Louisiana and all three of its federal district courts, and serves as President of the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Mr. Longman co-founded Longman Jakuback with Kathryn Jakuback Burke in 2018. Since then he has built the Baton Rouge firm into a litigation practice devoted to the most serious matters a client can face, representing clients in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, and the surrounding parishes. He appears regularly in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, and he maintains an active appellate and post-conviction practice, pursuing post-conviction relief and sentence modifications long after a trial record has closed.

He came to the law by an indirect route. After earning his undergraduate degree in literature and history at Louisiana State University, Mr. Longman served in the United States military and worked in law enforcement before attending law school. That background shapes how he prepares a case: how an investigation was conducted, how evidence was gathered, and where the government's proof may be vulnerable. He places particular emphasis on the early stages of a case, handling pre-indictment investigations, mitigation investigations, and grand jury investigations while the outcome can still be shaped.

Mr. Longman earned his J.D. from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2017, where he led the student division of LACDL, and was admitted to the Louisiana bar on May 10, 2018. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (2025) and a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and the Baton Rouge Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section. He was named to the Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Stars list, Criminal Defense, in 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027.
