In this role, he represented the state during damage assessment and restoration efforts following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and he helped secure more than $5 billion in restitution for the state, which stands as one of the largest environmental settlements ever achieved in the U.S.
A native of Houma and long-time resident of Baton Rouge, Mr. Bergeron graduated summa cum laude from Louisiana State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in religious studies. He then returned to his alma mater and obtained his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Louisiana State University's Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2011. While there, he served as senior editor of the Louisiana Law Review, and he graduated Order of the Coif.
Mr. Bergeron is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in Louisiana as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. He has several publications to his credit, and he is an active member of various local, state and national legal organizations.
