Valerie Briggs Bargas

Valerie Bargas is a partner at Kinchen Walker Bienvenu Bargas & Reed, LLC, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, serving State and Federal Courts throughout Louisiana. Since 2001, Ms. Bargas has had an active civil litigation practice with a focus on insurance defense with a focus on bad faith litigation, business law, and personal injury defense. She has extensive experience with both judge and jury trials in Louisiana federal and state courts.

Attorney Bargas has a thriving insurance defense practice that entails representation for cases pertaining to uninsured or underinsured motorists, property damage, personal injuries, coverage issues and a focus on first-party bad faith litigation. Ms. Bargas is asked regularly to speak on insurance defense and trial-related topics. Her presentations have included Handling Complex Auto Insurance Coverage Disputes, Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Law in Louisiana, and Personal Injury Trials: Getting the Most Out of Your Evidence.

As a dedicated and compassionate attorney, Ms. Bargas is actively involved in the Louisiana State Bar Association as well as her community. She currently serves as a member of the House of Delegates for the LSBA and as a Board member for Louisiana Appleseed, the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board, and Karnival Krewe De Louisianae (the fundraising arm of the Mary Byrd Perkins Cancer Center).  

Ms. Bargas received her baccalaureate degree, cum laude, from Smith College (B.A., Environmental Science/Policy, 1998) and her law degree from Tulane University Law School (J.D., 2001). She is currently a member of the American and Federal Bar Associations, Baton Rouge Bar Association, American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel.
