Mr. Tranchina obtained his J.D. from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1979. In the same year he graduated, he was admitted to the Louisiana bar and, later on, gained admission to The State Bar of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. Moreover, he received collaborative law training in 2004 and is a qualified Louisiana civil mediator. In addition to being a family law attorney, he dedicates a part of his time giving talks at the Family Law Advisory Counsel for Annual Continuing Legal Education (CLE).
An established writer, Mr. Tranchina is the co-author of The Court Colleague, a Louisiana family law handbook. He maintains memberships with many eminent legal associations, such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (fellow), the American Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association (Family Law, Negligence and Insurance Law sections), the New Orleans Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. He was recently induced into the International Academy of Family Lawyers.
Mr. Tranchina was also appointed by the Family Court Rules Committee of the Louisiana Supreme Court to recommend uniform rules for Family and Domestic Relations Courts across the state of Louisiana. In addition to acting as a Special Master on complex community property cases, he was qualified as an expert witness on Louisiana law by the Los Angeles Superior Court regarding the validity of a transsexual marriage. Adding to his list of accolades are mentions by The Best Lawyers in America as the “Lawyer of the Year in Family Law” for the years 2019 and 2024, respectively.
