Barry Singh Ranshi

For over a decade, Barry Singh Ranshi is a criminal defense attorney at his eponymous law practice, The Barry S. Ranshi Law Firm, LLC, in Kenner, Louisiana. He serves clients across the state, offering them legal guidance and counsel on matters such as DUI/DWI, felony, misdemeanor charges and white-collar crimes. He is also well-versed in handling appellate matters. 

In addition, Mr. Ranshi retains a comprehensive understanding of the legal system from various perspectives, having served as a prosecutor, judicial attorney and presently as a defense attorney. He brings with him valuable trial experience, particularly in the realms of jury selection, witness examination and the presentation of evidence. He handles cases in several parishes, including St. Tammany, Jefferson, Orleans, Lafourche, Terrebonne, Tangipahoa, St. Charles and St. Bernard.

Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Mr. Ranshi holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Orleans and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2009. He is licensed to practice in Louisiana, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

As a student practitioner at Loyola University, Mr. Ranshi aided in representing numerous indigent defendants in the Orleans Parish. During his last summer in law school, he also interned for Judge Robert Pitre in Jefferson Parish, where his responsibilities included preparing memorandums of law concerning post-conviction relief applications. 

As a young lawyer, Mr. Ranshi embarked on his legal profession as a staff attorney serving under Orleans Parish Criminal Court Judge Darryl A. Derbigny. Furthermore, he honed his skills in investigating and trying numerous felony cases in juvenile court while working at the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office, where he served as both first and second chair trial prosecutor. He also worked for a prominent criminal defense firm in New Orleans, where he achieved multiple victories in appeals courts and the Louisiana Supreme Court through successful writs.

Mr. Ranshi has memberships in the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Jefferson Bar Association. Moreover, he has garnered several honors for his achievements in the legal field such as being listed among the 40 Under 40 and the Top 100 in Criminal Defense by The National Trial Lawyers. He has also been bestowed with the Civil Leadership Academy title by the City of New Orleans and honored as an Institute of Politics Fellow by Loyola University New Orleans. Additionally, he is a proficient orator, captivating audiences with his knowledge in the field.
