D’ann “Dee” Penner is the Founder of Penner Law. Working out of the firm’s office in Lafayette, Louisiana, she represents clients throughout the state in a wide variety of civil matters.

Ms. Penner majored in history at California State University, Fresno, and she received a Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in 1989. After obtaining both a Master of Arts in history summa cum laude and a Doctor of Philosophy in history summa cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, she was a professor at The University of Memphis and then a visiting scholar before enrolling at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, and in 2012, she was awarded her Juris Doctor. Ms. Penner also holds a Master of Laws in energy and environment from Tulane Law School.

A significant portion of Ms. Penner’s practice entails personal injury and wrongful death litigation. Her cases have included accidents involving fishing boats, offshore drilling rigs, and supply vessels. Outside of the maritime area, Ms. Penner’s negligence practice has included railroad crossing accidents as well as truck and other motor vehicle crashes.

Ms. Penner’s practice additionally includes environmental and energy matters. She has worked on cases involving oil and gas lease disputes, pipeline rights of way, and property contamination. She has a traditional commercial litigation caseload as well, including trade secret misappropriation and unfair business practices. Admitted to practice in Louisiana, Ms. Penner is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
