John Parkerson Roy

John Parkerson Roy, a Lafayette native and a seasoned attorney at Domengeaux Wright Roy & Edwards LLC, is esteemed throughout Louisiana for his prowess in complex civil litigation. Splitting his docket between maritime law and serious personal injury matters, he has guided clients through every stage of dispute resolution from trial to appeal. 

On the maritime side, Mr. Roy represents seamen in Jones Act actions, pursues claims arising from offshore drilling-rig accidents, litigates barge-collision disputes and handles product-liability suits under admiralty jurisdiction. He also advocates for injured longshore and harbor workers under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. 

In his personal injury practice, Mr. Roy secures recovery for victims of automobile collisions, nursing-home neglect, toxic chemical exposure and defective consumer products, and he pursues wrongful-death and mass-tort claims with equal vigor. Educated first at Vanderbilt University, he transferred to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies in 2002. He then attended the Southern University Law Center, receiving his Juris Doctor in 2008. 

Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Roy completed two federal and state judicial clerkships – one in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana and another in the 15th Judicial District Court of Lafayette – before joining Domengeaux Wright Roy & Edwards LLC. Admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, he remains deeply engaged in the legal community. 

Mr. Roy serves on the board of directors of the Lafayette-Acadiana Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and maintains active membership in the Louisiana Association for Justice and the American Inns of Court of Acadiana.
