Attorney Profile

As a founding  partner of Davis, Saunders & Miller Law Firm in New Orleans, La,  Ben Saunders, represents individual  plaintiffs in matters involving FELA accidents (which covers railroad workers hurt on the job), and maritime workers hurt at sea under the Jones Act as well as Aviation death cases.

Before obtaining his law degree from Loyola Law School in New Orleans, Mr. Saunders studied Pre-Med at LSU and wanted  to become a doctor. While waiting  a year to begin medical school, he entered law school and quickly discovered that his knowledge of biology could greatly aid injured individuals. The first big personal injury case he handled after law school involved a brain injury to a railroad worker. Since then, he has primarily concentrated his practice on representing injured railroaders.

Today, Mr. Saunders is a national leader representing railroad workers hurt on the job. Among his many leadership roles, Mr. Saunders served as Designated Legal Counsel Chairman for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen from 1999-2002. Aside from trying cases for Locomotive Engineers, Carmen,Clerks,Trackmen, and Electricians,  he handles cases for injured Railroad Conductors who are represented by  the UTU (United Transportation Union) which merged with SMWIA in 2011 and  plan to be called SMART (Sheetmetal,Air,Rail and Transportation Workers).

In 1994, he chaired  the Railroad Law Section of the American Association for Justice (AAJ),where he still lectures today.  He also served as President of the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys (ARLA) from 1999-2000. Due to his knowledge and experience trying cases before juries, Mr. Saunders has won  multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements in cases throughout the Southeastern United State

He serves on the Loyola Law Alumni Board for Loyola Law School in New Orleans.
