As a founding partner of Wagar Hickman Law, Nelson W. Wagar, III, has over three decades of experience in civil trial litigation and focuses his practice on medical malpractice personal injury cases in Louisiana. After graduating from The George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs, Mr. Wagar attended Tulane University School of Law. In 1979, he graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctor and went on to be a recognized author and well-respected professional as a litigation attorney for Exxon Corporation. Currently, Mr. Wagar focuses primarily on complex products liability and medical malpractice cases; he also has experience in casualty loss cases, admiralty litigation and commercial litigation.
Mr. Wagar is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the International Association of Defense Counsel and the American Board of Trial Advocates. Other professional organizations he is associated with include the State Bar of Texas and the Louisiana State Bar Association. Admitted to practice in both Texas and Louisiana, and before a long list of federal courts, Mr. Wagar is also admitted pro hac vice in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina and Mississippi.
An adjunct professor, Mr. Wagar teaches medical malpractice law at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Throughout his years practicing law, he has taught hundreds of lawyers about trial advocacy with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Wagar has also taught at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center and Tulane University.
