A family law attorney handling divorce and custody issues, Kristyl Revelle Treadaway represents clients in the New Orleans metropolitan area. During her experience working for a law firm, she discovered her passion for working in the legal system and helping families through tumultuous, emotionally trying times.

In 2005, Ms. Treadaway graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a Bachelor of Arts, a major in political science and a minor in psychology. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2009. While in law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Program, and she gained international experience in Vienna, Austria, as part of a Summer Legal Studies Program. Throughout her career, she has practiced before trial and appellate courts exclusively in family law.  She has argued and tried scores of cases.

Ms. Treadaway is a Board Certified Family Law Specialist, Certified By The Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, a specialization held by less than 70 attorneys in the entire state. She is highly respected by both the Court and her peers.  She takes a team approach to her cases, working closely with her staff to provide the strongest and clearest case on behalf of her client.  Majority of her cases come from client (and the occasional opposing party) referrals.

She manages client expectations in an effort to limit surprises in Court. She does her best to be a beacon of guidance to her clients during this trying time of their lives.

  • Kristyl Treadaway was hired by her client for an adoption in 2020. Her client left an extremely unhealthy marriage three years prior and got divorced. She found happiness with her second husband and had a child with him. Her new husband was trying to adopt her son from her first marriage. At this time, the child had no relationship with their birth father. The only father figure for this child was with their stepfather. During trial in 2021, Kristyl and her client learned that there was a service issue in the first divorce, and that her client wasn't truly divorced from her first husband, and as a result, was not properly married to her second husband. With Louisiana law, this meant that the child she had with her second husband was legally considered to be the child of her first husband. Additionally, the Petition for Adoption was DENIED. For three years, Kristyl and her associate worked tirelessly to make things right with Kristyl's client. They nullified the first divorce; they got their client properly divorced. Their client and her current husband were then properly married. They legally had their client's younger baby properly affiliated away from the first husband and with the second husband, the child's biological father. Kristyl and her associate worked to set up a new and valid custody and child support Judgment for the first child with the first husband, the child seeking to be adopted in the first place. From there, Kristyl, her associate and their client waited for the appropriate parameters to be met to try the adoption again. Those parameters were met in early 2023 and the second adoption was filed. Trial on the second adoption was held in March, 2024. Judgment was just received that the second adoption was GRANTED!!! This child who has bonded with their stepfather and only knows this man as their dad is now officially his child. Birth certificates are being reissued with new last names., 2024
