Mark J. Neal is a civil litigation trial and appellate attorney with Neal Law and represents clients in Louisiana. He handles matters of personal injury, commercial litigation, auto & trucking accident defense, insurance coverage, workers’ compensation, employment litigation, corporate, business and banking litigation and municipal litigation. Born in Monroe (1971), Mr. Neal graduated from St. Frederick High School and earned a BBA from University of Louisiana-Monroe, graduating magna cum laude in 1993. In 1996, he earned his Juris Doctorate from LSU. Currently, he is a member of the preeminent invitation only organizations Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, American Board of Trial Advocates & International Association of Defense Counsel. He is a faculty member for Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel Annual Trial Academy and frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars. Mr. Neal served on the Board of Directors for the largest international association of civil defense lawyers: DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar (2012-2015). He is a member of LSU Law Dean's Council and former Director of National Foundation for Judicial Excellence. Mr. Neal was president of University of Louisiana Monroe Athletic Foundation.
Licensed to practice in all federal and state courts in Louisiana and the United States Supreme Court, his trial experience extends to almost every appellate and parish court in Louisiana, and he has argued more than 70 cases to several courts of appeal and has tried (first chair) over 170 non-jury and jury cases to judgment.
The son of a coach, referee and umpire, Mr. Neal coached youth basketball and baseball for 14 years. He enjoys traveling with his family, particularly to Major League Baseball games, and has observed games in 29 different MLB parks. His goal is to cross the remaining cities off the list by 2025 (Denver, Milwaukee, Toronto, Detroit, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh). His sons, Noah (19) & Nathan (15), and wife Rhonda, have been to games at 20 different parks. Noah is a pitcher on the baseball team at Crown College in Minnesota.Â
