Before she became a lawyer, she earned her undergraduate degree from Tulane University and spent 10 years working in radio as a reporter and talk show host. She still contributes to media and local radio occasionally.
Health care and her community are important to Ms. Caraway. She has spoken on legal and ethical matters at seminars for health care professionals and legal professionals, and she is a member of the Louisiana Hospital Association, the Louisiana Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. Ms. Caraway is on the board of directors of an assisted living facility serving people living with HIV/AIDS.
