William Herbert

Focusing his practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death litigation, William Herbert is a partner at Hardy Wolf & Downing, which is one of Maine’s leading firms in that area of the law. Located in Lewiston, he represents clients in the greater Portland metropolitan region and throughout the state.

Mr. Herbert attended Ohio State University as an undergraduate, where he majored in both English and political science and received a Bachelor of Arts in each subject in 2009. He then enrolled at Ohio State University’s Michael E. Moritz College of Law. While he was there, Mr. Herbert was the managing editor of the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law and participated in mock trial competitions before obtaining his Juris Doctor in 2012. After he graduated, he was an assistant prosecutor in Delaware County, Ohio, where he handled criminal investigations and trials, before relocating to Maine. Admitted to practice in Maine as well as Ohio and New Hampshire, Mr. Herbert has been with his current firm since June 2015.

Mr. Herbert’s current client base is made up of people who have incurred substantial losses as the direct result of the negligence or recklessness of other parties. His cases have involved truck and other motor vehicle crashes, nursing home abuse, workplace accidents caused by nonemployer third parties, defective products, animal attacks and premises liability. Since joining the firm, Mr. Herbert has been able to obtain significant amounts of compensation for his plaintiff clients through both jury awards and negotiated settlements, and this has resulted in a great deal of favorable recognition from his fellow members of the bar.
