E.J. Hammann

E.J. Hammann is a Partner at Brown & Barron. She joins Brown & Barron with over 20 years in medical-legal practice. Her time defending doctors and hospital facilities, as well as knowledge gained working for medical malpractice insurance carriers, brings a depth of insight. As an experienced litigator, this background benefits clients who face serious complication due to medical negligence.

E.J.'s last three trials have resulted in ground breaking verdicts for her clients.  In March of 2025, E.J. and her partner, Chris Casciano, secured a $35,000,000 verdict win in a medical malpractice case for their client in the Circuit Court for Prince Georges County.  In August of 2024, E.J. and her partner, Brian Brown, obtained a $8,500,000 win in a nursing home malpractice case for their clients in the Circuit Court of Prince Georges County. E.J. was an integral part of the team that handled a large class action case related to over-stenting patients. She has expertise in cardiac cases, anesthesia complications, birth injuries, missed strokes, and emergency room care. She has also handled a wide range of surgical complication cases from orthopedic to bariatric surgery. E.J. is admitted to practice law throughout the state and federal courts of Maryland and in the District of Columbia. She is currently a member of the Maryland Association for Justice, the Maryland Bar Association, the Women's Bar Association of Maryland, and the Trial Lawyers Association of Washington, D.C., 

E.J. earned her law degree from The George Washington University Law School, in the District of Columbia, and was a member of the Environmental Law Journal. E.J. graduated from Colby College located in Waterville, Maine, and has been a nationally certified ski instructor for over 20 years.
