Paul D. Bekman

I have been a Trial lawyer ever since I was admitted  to the Bar in 1972. Within 2 months of my admission I had already tried two Jury Trials by myself. I argued my first case before the Court of Appeals in 1973 when I was 27 years old establishing the recognition of the special mission exception to the going and coming rule. I have tried over 100 Jury Trials. I have obtained multiple million dollar verdicts in Maryland, Virginia and New York. I became a member of he American College of Trial Lawyers in 1993 and have served as State Chair for Maryland, Regent of the College for 4 years and Secretary for one year. I am also the first lawyer to be Certified in Maryland by The National Board of Trial Advocacy in 1980. I was also certified by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys in the fields of Medical Negligence and Personal Injury in 1992. I was selected to be and currently am a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, International Society of Barristers, and the American Board of Trial Advocates(ABOTA) which I served as Maryland Chair for 13 years. I am also a Proctor In Admiralty since 1974 and continue to try Maritime cases in State and Federal Courts. I am a former President of The Maryland Trial Lawyers Association (now known as MAJ), President of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, and President of The Maryland State Bar Association. I received the honor of being selected as one of the 11Living Legends by The Bar Association of Baltimore City in 2011.  I have received The Daily Record Leader in Law, Lifetime Leader in Law and Icon Success and Leadership in Law Awards. I am a full time Trial Lawyer to date and plan to continue for the forseeable future.
