Leslie Peters

Leslie Gibbons Peters is an associate attorney at Cohen & Hertz, P.C.  She primarily practices family law, a field that has drawn her interest and passion since she started law school.  Ms. Peters has a knack for detail and is skilled at making sense of minutiae and finding the "needle in the haystack."  She is considered pleasant to work with by her peers and still attains positive results for her clients, whether through settlement or trial.  Her clients respect her honest feedback, especially when considering whether to negotiate a settlement with the opposing party or to take a more aggressive stance with an eye toward a trial.  Ms. Peters has experience litigating cases involving divorce, child custody and child access, child support, alimony, and division of assets.  She is also trained as a Best Interest Attorney and is available to represent children in high-conflict custody matters.   Ms. Peters also serves on the District of Columbia Fiduciary Panel and is frequently appointed as guardian or conservator for residents who lack the capacity to protect their own interests.  Ms. Peters has experience parsing through financial records of wards in order to determine if the ward has been exploited, and pursues court intervention when necessary.  Though it is a difficult job, Ms. Peters takes pride in improving the lives, particularly the safety, of those in our area who need community support.   Ms. Peters attended The Catholic University of America and is admitted to the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.
