Attorney Deborah Potter is a founding partner with Potter Burnett Law, LLC, in Bowie, Maryland. A highly rated, award-winning attorney with nearly 30 years of legal experience, Ms. Potter focuses her practice exclusively on personal injury law. She represents the rights and entitlements of plaintiff clients throughout Maryland, Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C., metro area who have legal needs stemming from any of the following:

    ·        Truck accidents

    ·        Wrongful death

    ·        Nursing home negligence

    ·        Slip-and-fall accidents

    ·        Other preventable tragedies

After graduating from the University of Maryland College Park in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, Ms. Potter returned to her alma mater and obtained her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1990.

Over the course of her career, she has achieved unprecedented success fighting for the rights and entitlements of innocent accident victims and their families. Among her most notable successes, she helped secure a landmark, $26 million-dollar verdict against a major automobile manufacturer, earning her national recognition as one of the leading trial advocates in the country.

Among the numerous awards and honors she has received from her peers, Ms. Potter holds an AV Preeminent peer review rating* from Martindale-Hubbell, and the Prince George's County Bar Association bestowed her with the President's Award in 2016. Moreover, Ms. Potter recently became a Fellow with the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers in 2018, and earlier in her career, she received the Anne Arundel Bar Association Trustees Award and the Maryland State Bar Association's Ed Shea Professionalism Award. She also received the Generous Heart Award from CASA in 2016.

Along with managing a successful legal practice, Ms. Potter has served in many leadership roles with various local, state and national legal organizations. In 1999, she became the youngest person to ever serve as president of the Anne Arundel Bar Association, and she has maintained a long-standing service to the Maryland State Bar Association's Board of Governors and the organization's Executive Committee.
