    • Membership among America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators® is meant to identify and highlight the accomplishments of the nation’s most esteemed and skilled litigators in high stakes legal matters. To be considered for selection, an attorney must have litigated (for either plaintiff or defendant) a matter (1) with at least $2,000,000 in alleged damages at stake or (2) with the fate of a business worth at least $2,000,000 at stake (i.e. bet-the-company litigation valued in excess of $2,000,000). These minimum qualifications are required for initial consideration. Thereafter, only the top 100 qualifying attorneys in each state* will receive this honor and be selected for membership among America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators®. While selection for any award, honor, or exclusive membership organization is always subjective in nature, we have developed a comprehensive multi-phase selection process involving proprietary algorithms and Qualitative Comparative Analysis in an effort to help ensure that only the most skilled and exceptional attorneys in the community are selected for membership. Candidates for membership are initially identified through third-party research or peer nominations by other elite attorneys in the community. Once a candidate is identified, they are carefully screened first to determine that they meet the minimum requirements as a “High Stakes Litigator” through third-party research and analysis. Thereafter, all data regarding qualifying candidates is evaluated using our proprietary algorithms applying multi-criteria decision making methods to create a Pareto efficiency frontier. These algorithms assess a broad array of criteria and data for each candidate, including (but not limited to) the attorney’s lifetime legal achievements, professional experience, significant case results and/or verdicts, peer reputation, client satisfaction, other notable honors, media notoriety, and community impact, among many other proprietary factors. The Pareto efficiency frontier created by the analysis of these criteria establishes a measure for each attorney that indicates the relative effectiveness of the attorney in comparison to other attorneys in the community. Through Qualitative Comparative Analysis, the most efficient and effective High Stakes Litigators among the community are then identified for selection among America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators®. Every attorney selected for membership among America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators® must pass through this multi-phase screening process and be found among the Top 100 High Stakes Litigators in their community based on our screening criteria. Attorneys cannot buy or “peer nominate” their way into membership. If an attorney does not meet the standards established by our criteria to be selected among the Top 100 in their community, then there is no amount of money (or peer nominations) that will change that. The integrity of our multi-phase selection process is paramount in achieving our objectives and ensuring that all attorneys selected for this great honor reflect the highest ideals and ethical standards of the legal profession., America's Top 100 High Stakes Litigators, America's Top 100 Attorneys, 2018

The Baltimore County jury awarded the medical bills plus lost income and other business losses in the amount of $2,672.00 plus $45,900.00 in pain and suffering. The pre-suit offer from the insurance company for the car accident client was $12,100.00. The offer issued the day before the trial was $25,000.00. • Car accident lawyer, George Patterson obtained a $46,055.33 car accident jury verdict ($10,727.33 medical bills, $5,376.00 lost wages and $29,952.00 non-economic damages) in Prince George’s County in 2012. The client from Laurel, Maryland sustained a chronic neck strain and a mild head injury in a car accident that occurred in Howard County. The defendant's insurance company hired a doctor to claim that the client had mild muscle strains and should have recovered within several weeks. The offer to settle the car accident case before suit was filed was just over $18,000.00. The offer was increased to $32,500.00 after the video depositions of the plaintiff's and the defendant's doctors were taken for use at trial. • Maria Patterson and George Patterson co-tried a pedestrian case in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County in Upper Marlboro. The accident occurred in Upper Marlboro, where a man pumping gas was struck by a car. The driver of the car was involved in a car accident on Route 301 and lost control of her van before hitting Mr. Patterson's client. The client had a knee surgery and his insurance company, State Farm, refused to tender $50,000 of available underinsured motorist coverage. Shortly before trial, State Farm offered $15,000 to settle the case. The 3 day jury trial resulted in an award of all the client’s medical bills, lost wages, plus $150,000 in pain and suffering damages. Maria Patterson cross-examined the orthopedic surgeon hired by State Farm, Richard Wells M.D.. Doctor Wells explained to the Prince George’s County jury that the knee surgery performed on the client was unrelated to the impact that broke his leg, just below the knee surgery site. Instead, Dr. Wells relied on pre-existing complaints of knee pain to claim that the knee surgery was the result of pre-existing degenerative changes. The verdict award suggests that Dr. Wells’ allegations, among others, were rejected., 2012

The client sustained fractures to his leg, pelvis, neck, back and elbow. The client, a resident of Damascus, Maryland battled severe infections from the surgical wounds to repair his badly fractured leg. The antibiotics he was given resulted in a Clostridium difficile (C-diff) infection of his colon that necessitated the removal of his large intestine. Mr. Patterson also recovered $150,000 for the passenger that had less than $8,000 in medical bills. The unusually high award was based on the pre-impact fright of the passenger plus being trapped upside down in a van next to her critically injured husband for over 30 minutes., 2011
