Alan J. Belsky practices as Belsky Legal, representing clients in legal malpractice, medical malpractice, serious personal injury, auto and truck accidents, workers’ compensation, and consumer bankruptcy matters. His practice emphasizes careful preparation, direct communication, and personal attention. Consultations are by Zoom or telephone, by appointment; the former 220 North Liberty Street office is no longer a client location. Request a case review at https://belskylegal.com/ or call 410-234-0100.

Alan is a 1991 cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the University of Baltimore Law Review. After graduation, he joined a Baltimore law firm and gained litigation experience involving catastrophic accidents, aircraft crashes, toxic torts, corporate restructuring, and complex commercial disputes. In 2000, he co-founded Belsky, Weinberg & Horowitz, LLC.

His litigation experience includes medical negligence, legal malpractice, construction collapses, delayed cancer diagnosis, surgical injuries, highway accidents, elevator malfunctions, and paramedic liability. He personally conducts the preliminary review of medical malpractice inquiries, examining medical records and discussing the circumstances directly with the prospective client.

Legal malpractice inquiries focus on attorney errors or omissions that caused a monetary loss. A disagreement with an attorney, an unfavorable outcome, or ethical misconduct alone does not establish a damages claim. His practice does not handle child custody or support disputes that do not involve an attorney error causing monetary loss.

Alan has argued appeals in Maryland’s appellate courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. His reported matters include Stracke v. Estate of Butler; Crocker v. Matthews; Mahler v. The Johns Hopkins Hospital; D’Angelo v. St. Agnes Healthcare; Supik v. Bodie, Nagle, Dolina, Smith & Hobbs; and In re Stansbury Poplar Place. Selected results and reported opinions are available on belskylegal.com.

Alan founded the Consumer Bankruptcy Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. In 2006, the Section established the Alan J. Belsky Outstanding Achievement Award to recognize contributions to consumer bankruptcy practice in Maryland.
