The Maryland State Bar Association admitted him to practice that same year, and he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and the District of Columbia as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.

A leader in his legal community, Mr. Marcus has served as Attorney Grievance Committee inquiry panel member along with an appointment by the Court of Appeals to its Character Committee. He is an active member of the American Association for Justice, the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, among his other professional affiliations, and he has served on the board of regents for the University of Maryland.
