David P. Shapiro

A partner at McMillan Metro Faerber, PC, in Potomac, Maryland, David P. Shapiro holds a strong command of his talents pertaining to all aspects of business law, including mergers and acquisitions, business formation, breach of contract, employment law, health law, professional ethics and discipline and many more. He serves throughout the state of Maryland as well as in Washington, D.C.

A veteran of the legal field with more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Shapiro is no stranger to the tireless efforts it takes to give clients – many of whom are small business owners and professionals – the peace of mind they so desire that their company will be safeguarded well into the future, and that expanding operations yield out positive results. With his advocacy comes his sizeable network of experts who can help his clients in broad and niche areas of their business.

Mr. Shapiro completed his undergraduate studies in 1994 from the University of Maryland, graduating with his B.A. degree with a major in government and politics and a minor in psychology. In 1997 Mr. Shapiro received his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, where he he was a member of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy and was the recipient of the Student Extra Mile Award given by the school. That same year, he obtained his license to practice in Maryland, followed by his license to practice in Washington, D.C. the next year.

Peers of the same standing have recognized Mr. Shapiro for the undeniable quality of representation he provides to clients with consistency and for his leadership in the legal community. For his active involvement within his legal community, Mr. Shapiro is seen as an obelisk of high ethical standards and leadership, and the many vital roles he has served within many prominent legal organizations is a testament to the same. At the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland, he is a past Chair of the Business Law Section and has served on the Judicial Selections Panel, Legal Ethics Committee, and as a multi-year Chair of the Montgomery County Bar Foundation's annual golf and tennis outing and fundraiser.  Mr. Shapiro served as the President of the Maryland State Bar Association for 2022 - 2023 and, in the past, has served that organization as a past Chair of the Section on Business Law and on its Ethics, Judicial Appointments. Law, and Strategic Planning Committees.  In 2025 Mr. Shapiro became the inaugural recipient of the Edward J. Gilliss Community Service Award recognizing a Member of the Maryland Bar who exemplifies an exceptional commitment to civic engagement and community service.
