PRACTICE OVERVIEW:

Donna McBride, a partner in Miller, Miller & Canby's Litigation practice, is a native and lifelong resident of Montgomery County. In her more than two decades of practice, she has tried hundreds of lawsuits throughout the State of Maryland and in the District of Columbia -- approximately 100 of which were jury trials. Her trial practice is diverse and extensive.

Earlier in her career, she concentrated her practice in insurance defense, primarily personal injury matters, and she continues to represent both plaintiffs and defendants in such cases. More recently, she has played leading roles in complex business matters for large corporate clients and in other areas such as insurance related litigation, trust litigation as well as zoning and land use matters. Many of these cases involve difficult and novel issues that her extensive courtroom experience enables her to navigate with success.

In 2019, Ms. McBride was admitted to the American College of Trial Lawyers as a Fellow. Fellowship is extended by invitation only, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards. Membership in the College cannot exceed one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province.

In addition to her background as a trial lawyer, Ms. McBride is a member of the Court of Appeals Standing Committee of Rules of Practice and Procedure, where she was appointed to serve a second 5-year term beginning in 2018. She is also a member of the Trial Court's Judicial Nominating Commission, the Montgomery County Inn of Court, a former co-chair and current member of the Maryland State Bar Association's Judicial Selections Committee and has volunteered as a mediator for the District Court since 2008. In 2018, she was elected to serve as Treasurer for the Montgomery County Bar Association, and served during the 2018-2019 term.  She was Treasurer of the Mongtomery County Bar Foundation for the 2019-2020 term.  She is also President of the Montgomery Inn of Court for the 2021-2022 term.

Ms. McBride is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. She has been named as a Super Lawyer for Maryland and in the District of Columbia every year since 2014.
