Donna K. Rismiller

The founder of RLG Law, LLC, Donna K. Rismiller divides her practice among family law matters, criminal defense and civil litigation. Based in Rockville, Maryland, she represents clients throughout Montgomery County and other parts of the state. Ms. Rismiller majored in economics at the University of Maryland and received a Bachelor of Science cum laude in 1996. She then went on to attend the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., and she was awarded her Juris Doctor in 2000.

The majority of Ms. Rismiller’s caseload consists of divorce and other family law matters. Her experience in mediation and collaborative law often allows her to assist clients whose marriages are coming to an end in reaching an accord on such matters as child custody and visitation, property division, and child and spousal support, without having to go through a protracted and often-divisive courtroom battle. However, she is a forceful courtroom advocate on their behalf when litigation is necessary. Other family law matters that Ms. Rismiller has handled have included adoptions and the preparation and review of prenuptial agreements.

In her criminal defense practice, Ms. Rismiller provides forceful advocacy on behalf of people who have been accused of having committed misdemeanor or felony offenses. Her cases in this regard have included driving while intoxicated, drug possession and distribution, assault, child abuse, and homicide. Ms. Rismiller’s civil litigation experience apart from the family law area has encompassed the defense of actions such as real estate disputes and contract breaches, and her excellent track record in all of her professional endeavors has earned her a great deal of acclaim from her colleagues. Her honors have included being named to The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100, and she has also received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
