Attorney Profile

Out-of-the-box thinking defines Jeff Schwaber’s approach to handling the most complex corporate litigation matters. In his over 20 years of legal experience, Jeff has built a stellar reputation for his ability to resolve creatively and successfully the significant and high-stakes cases normally reserved for the region’s mega-firms.

With a focus on complex business disputes and commercial litigation, Jeff represents local and national companies in a broad range of business, employment, technology and real estate matters. He has also been called on by the courts to serve as Special Discovery Master in complex litigation and has been engaged as a private arbitrator in multi-party and multi-district arbitrations.

Larger law firms throughout the country have called upon Jeff’s expertise and knowledge of Montgomery County and Maryland federal courts to play a role in significant and often high-profile litigation actions taking place in the area. His involvement as a member of various trial teams in complex business and technology cases taking place in Montgomery County include a multi-party dispute over ownership of professional sports franchise, a suit for royalties arising out of a series of patented technologies and a fight to vindicate the rights of an entrepreneur with regard to a breakthrough medical device at an area hospital.

For the high caliber of his work and the results he achieves for clients, Jeff has been recognized by Super Lawyers as one of Maryland’s top 50 attorneys (2010-2011) and one of the D.C. metropolitan area's top 100 attorneys (2010-2011).

In addition to his legal practice, Jeff currently serves as one of two Montgomery County representatives on the Governor's Statewide Advisory Committee for Maryland's Business and Technology Court. He was also appointed by Montgomery County’s Chief Judge to the county’s Civil Case Management Working Group, which is tasked with assessing and revamping the Court’s case management system.

Throughout his career, Jeff has been very involved with the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, an organization that provides pro-bono legal services to clients who are homeless. As a law student at Georgetown, he conceived of and helped launch Home Court, an annual Congressional basketball game to raise money for the Legal Clinic. As Chair of its Fundraising Committee for over 20 years, he has helped raise over $4 million through this event. Jeff is a past President of the Legal Clinic and current member of its Executive Committee.

In his leisure time, Jeff is a competitive triathlete, racing in four to five triathlons every year.
