Gary M. Gilbert

As principal and president of Gilbert Employment Law, P.C., Gary M. Gilbert represents clients in Silver Spring, Maryland, in matters of employment law, private sector discrimination, federal sector discrimination and other areas of civil rights law. A former Administrative Judge and Chief Administrative Judge in the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Baltimore district office for almost two decades, he has extensive experience in legal cases involving retaliation, harassment and unlawful discrimination.

Admitted to practice in both Florida and Maryland, Mr. Gilbert earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland before attending law school. At the University of Baltimore School of Law, he graduated with a Juris Doctor, and before working for the EEOC, served as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Acting Chief of the Docket Branch, and as the Acting Executive Director for Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc.

A talented and experienced writer, Mr. Gilbert updated and wrote the Deskbook for Disability Discrimination in the Federal Sector, and Compensatory Damages and Other Federal Sector Employment Discrimination Cases. He is a regular speaker for the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board Administrative Judges and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Administrative Judges.

Mr. Gilbert served on the original board of the Federal Employment Law Training Group. While he represents clients, he continues his work with this organization by presenting to employee relations personnel, labor relations personnel, human resources personnel, attorneys, investigators and union officials. During his career, he has also written a long list of additional publications that appear in various trade journals for bar associations.
