Thomas J. Gagliardo

An employment law attorney representing clients in Silver Spring, Maryland, Thomas J. Gagliardo is Of Counsel at Gilbert Employment Law, P.C. For over three decades, he has worked in employment and labor law in the state of Maryland and is passionate about fighting for the rights of federal workers. Former general counsel to the American Federation of Government Employees, he bargained with the United States Department of Defense, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the Social Security Administration for more than 30,000 federal employees.

Mr. Gagliardo is admitted to practice in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia, and before a long list of federal courts. These include the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

At John Carroll University, Mr. Gagliardo earned a Bachelor of Arts before earning his Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. In 2000, he was named Lawyer of the Year by the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association.

He served in the past as the president of the Maryland Employment Lawyers Association, as an executive board member of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association and as chair of the Labor and Employment Executive council of the Maryland State Bar Association. Mr. Gagliardo is often asked to lecture and present to organizations for continuing legal education, such as the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and Georgetown University Law Center.
