Kerri Cohen is an attorney with the Law Offices of Kerri Cohen and handles matters majority family law cases as well as criminal defense and other civil matters. With over 20 years of legal experience, she practices primarily in Baltimore County Maryland and the surrounding counties and has tried a long list of cases before juries and judges in the juvenile, district and circuit courts. The first 11 years of her career were spent at the Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore city for the state of Maryland, where she handled charges as serious as murder, rape, drug offenses, and robbery.
While clerking for a judge in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, Ms. Cohen developed a passion for both criminal and family law. She attended the University of Arizona and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English and journalism. At the University of Baltimore School of Law, she obtained her Juris Doctor and has since earned her Certificate in Mediation and worked in the Family Law Clinic representing clients as permitted under the Maryland Rules.
Admitted to practice law in 2001, Ms. Cohen has been recognized by her peers for her outstanding ethics and accomplishments in her legal practice. Within her family law practice, she handles cases of collaborative law, domestic partnership agreements, guardianship, paternity, adoption, legal separation, modifications, child and spousal support, custody and visitation, and uncontested and contested divorce.
Ms. Cohen is presently serving as the Chairperson of the Bench/Bar Committee and the Vice-Chair of the Advocate Committee for the Baltimore County Bar Association. Additionally, she is a member of the American Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, and the Women's Bar Association of Maryland, as well as the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and the Maryland Association for Justice.
Ms. Cohen values her ability to be an aggressive advocate for both the rights and the best interests of her clients as they confront an uncertain future. Whether they are facing an intense custody or divorce matter or accusations of committing a crime, she passionately defends her clients.
