At the helm of The Law Offices of Kimberly Butler Rainen, attorney Kimberly Butler Rainen has built a practice centered on elder law, probate and estate planning, serving individuals and families throughout Massachusetts, with a particular focus on Essex and Middlesex counties. Based in Andover, she works extensively with clients across the Merrimack Valley and North Shore, guiding them through guardianship matters, retirement and long-term care planning and legacy preservation with an approach that favors clarity over complexity.
Ms. Rainen's path to elder law was shaped early by hands-on experience within the Massachusetts court system. A Clark University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government and international relations, she went on to earn her Juris Doctor cum laude from New England Law | Boston in 2013, where she also served on the New England Law Review.
During law school, Ms. Rainen completed clinical internships with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office's Enterprise and Major Crimes Division and the Suffolk Probate and Family Court, later returning to the court through New England Law's Honors Judicial Program. These formative roles gave her direct exposure to Medicaid planning, estate administration and special needs planning – disciplines that now anchor her practice.
Ms. Rainen’s professional leadership extends well beyond her own firm. She currently co-chairs the Disability and Elder Law Committee within the Boston Bar Association's Trust and Estates Steering Committee and holds memberships in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the MassNAELA and the Merrimack Valley Conveyancers' Association.
Additionally, Ms. Rainen’s recognitions include a 2025 honor for Best Law Firm for estate planning from The Andovers Magazine. Beyond her legal work, she remains active in community service, organizing an annual food drive for Bread and Roses, and volunteering with TomorrowNite in support of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital from 2011 to 2024.
