In the complex world of family law, where emotions run high and the stakes are deeply personal, Kevin M. Corr of Kates & Barlow, PC, stands as a seasoned navigator. With over three decades of experience in Boston, Massachusetts, he has dedicated his career to guiding families through challenging transitions, always striving to leave clients feeling grateful and opposing counsel respectful. His competence spans all facets of family law, with a particular focus on the intricacies of divorce, property division and support issues. He is particularly passionate about the validity and enforceability of pre- and postmarital agreements, skillfully litigating cases where these agreements are challenged.
A 1988 graduate of Syracuse University, Mr. Corr earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1992 and was licensed in Massachusetts that same year, followed by New York in 1993. He shares his knowledge as a frequent panelist in continuing legal education programs and as an author in the field. He has chaired the MBA program titled Attacking & Defending Premarital and Marital Agreements – What You Need to Know, participated in 2015’s How to Try Divorce Cases (MCLE), and has been a panelist in other continuing legal education programs.
Mr. Corr’s commitment extends beyond his practice. He is actively involved with the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court as a Program Committee member for Attorneys Representing Children. His successful co-counseling in Ansin vs. Craven-Ansin, 457 Mass. 283 (July 2010), a landmark case that shaped the landscape of marital agreements in Massachusetts, earned him recognition as one of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly's Lawyers of the Year in 2010.
An AV Preeminent peer-review rated* through Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Corr became a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) in 2004. He has presented his summary of family law cases at AAML year-end meetings (2009-2012), participated in Mandatory Continuing Legal Education’s Family Law Case Update programs, been part of a prior MBA Family Law Conference regarding Recent Developments in Family Law and chaired MCLE’s program Premarital, Marital & Separation Agreements (2012-2014).
