Attorney Profile

The founder of his own law firm in Boston, Massachusetts, Matthew H. Feinberg has developed a well-deserved reputation as a successful criminal defense and civil litigation attorney. With clients throughout the greater metropolitan area, he divides his practice among family law, professional liability defense and general criminal defense matters. During his career that spans several decades, Mr. Feinberg has earned the high regard of his fellow professionals for his superb ethics and successful track record, as can be attested to by his receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.

In his family law practice, Mr. Feinberg focuses primarily on matrimonial matters, providing advice and counsel to people whose marriages are coming to an end and who are dealing with such divorce-related issues as the valuation and division of business interests and other complex assets, alimony, and child custody and visitation. With extensive experience in negotiations and mediation, he will often help his clients reach an accord on some of these matters through the use of one or both of those types of alternative dispute resolution methods, but he also provides strong courtroom advocacy in instances where litigation is necessary.

Mr. Feinberg's state and federal criminal defense experience has encompassed mail and credit card fraud, murder, weapons violations, and drug possession and distribution. In this regard, he has been able to obtain acquittals as well as favorable plea agreements in many instances. In his professional liability practice, Mr. Feinberg provides representation to attorneys who are facing disciplinary proceedings before the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers, and he benefits from his prior experience as a hearing officer for that organization. Mr. Feinberg is admitted to practice in Massachusetts as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
