Details

Attorney Philip Y. Brown is the founder of Brown Counsel, located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. At his law firm, Mr. Brown provides both individuals and business clients with a wide range of legal services in a number of practice areas, including the following:

• Business litigation
• Appeals
• Mediation
• General business advice

Even though many of his clients seek his assistance with legal matters that fall into the above practice areas, Mr. Brown considers his firm's sole focus to be on providing legal assistance during litigation and negotiation. As an experienced trial attorney and mediator certified by Metropolitan Mediation Services, he welcomes all prospective clients, regardless of their legal needs.

Mr. Brown began his legal career in 1988 after earning his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law and his approval to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Over the past nearly 30 years, his outstanding legal abilities and dedication to his clients' needs have led to a number of honors, including an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating from Martindale-Hubbell and inclusion among the best appellate and commercial litigation lawyers in the country by The Best Lawyers in America.

In addition to his work at his firm, attorney Brown also serves as the chairman of the Massachusetts Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission, which is an elected position that followed his appointment to the committee by Governor Deval Patrick. However, PERAC is not his only responsibility outside of the firm. He is an active member of the legal community and his local community. He serves on the Norwell Zoning Board of Appeals as vice chair, and he is a member of numerous legal associations.

*AV®, BV®, AV Preeminent® and BV Distinguished® are registered certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings fall into two categories – legal ability and general practice standards.
