Attorney Profile

Stephen S. Churchill is an attorney with Boston-based Fair Work P.C. Focusing his practice exclusively on employment law, he represents employees throughout Massachusetts in a variety of matters. Mr. Churchill handles wage and hour violations arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and he has represented employees in cases involving workplace discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, wrongful termination, employee misclassification and the wrongful denial of benefits. Some of his representative successes have been a six-figure jury award in a case arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act and a jury verdict in excess of $500,000 on behalf of an employee asserting a wage and hour claim.

Mr. Churchill pursued his undergraduate education at Stanford University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in public policy in 1988. He subsequently attended Harvard Law School and obtained his Juris Doctor in 1993. While there, he participated in the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, a student-run program that assists low-income residents of the greater Boston area. Before co-founding Fair Work P.C. in 2013, he was a partner at a well-known employee-side employment law firm. Mr. Churchill is admitted to practice before all Massachusetts state courts.

Since 2007, Mr. Churchill has been on the faculty of his law school alma mater, where he lectures on employment law and advocacy skills. He is also a member of the board of directors of Fair Employment Project, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides legal advocacy to victims of workplace discrimination. Mr. Churchill is frequently asked to deliver presentations to the Boston Bar Association and other groups of attorneys on topics related to his practice area. He is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association and a member of the board of directors of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice.
