John J. Morrissey is a founding partner of Morrissey, Wilson & Zafiropoulos, LLP, a multidisciplinary firm with its primary office in Braintree Massachusetts and access to satellite offices throughout Massachusetts including Boston, Cape Cod, Brockton, Worcester, Lowell and Salem. Mr. Morrissey has been representing individuals and families throughout Massachusetts in personal injury claims for over twenty-five years including claims involving catastrophic injury and wrongful death. Mr. Morrissey handles claims arising from car accidents, construction site accidents and injuries, work injuries, workers' compensation claims, slip and fall injuries, alcohol related injuries, injuries from defective products, medical malpractice claims, negligent security claims, premises liability claims, scaffolding accidents, and crane accidents. He also handles brain injury and complex regional pain syndrome claims. In addition to his personal injury practice, Mr. Morrissey represents individuals and businesses in commercial and real estate disputes.  

Mr. Morrissey is Chair of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers. The Board of Bar Overseers was established by the Supreme Judicial Court as an independent administrative body to investigate and evaluate complaints against lawyers. The Board consists of twelve members appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court and acts as an administrative tribunal to consider disciplinary charges brought by Bar Counsel against attorneys practicing in Massachusetts. 

Mr. Morrissey has been elected President of the Massachusetts Bar Association, and serves on the MBA Executive Management Board, the MBA Leadership Academy Steering Committee and the Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. Scholarship Committee. In the past he has served in the Massachusetts Bar Association House of Delegates and as the Chairman of the Judicial Administration Section Council.  He has also served on the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board Of Governors.

Mr. Morrissey currently serves on the Board of Directors of Independent Bank Corp and Rockland Trust and is a rotating member of the Executive Committee. 

Mr. Morrissey was a Commissioner on the Town of Hingham Conservation Commission from 2014- 2017.The Conservation Commission is a seven member board appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The Commission is entrusted with the stewardship of over 1000 acres of conservation land and addresses natural resource issues of the town and region. Empowered to administer the State Wetland Protection Act (M.G.L. Chapter 131, section 40), the Rivers Protection Law, and the Town of Hingham's Wetlands Protection Bylaw, the Commission reviews all projects that fall within their jurisdiction and after review, issues orders of conditions intended to protect the natural resource interests of the community.

Mr. Morrissey serves as an arbitrator on the Massachusetts Bar Association's Fee Arbitration Board.  The Fee Arbitration Board provides an alternative to litigation in the resolution of legal fee disputes. The arbitrators conduct evidentiary hearings to determine the fair value of the disputed legal services.

Mr. Morrissey served for ten years on the Suffolk County Medical Malpractice Tribunal.  The Tribunal consisting of a superior court justice, physician and attorney, evaluates claims of medical malpractice to determine if the evidence presented is sufficient for further judicial inquiry without the necessity of posting a statutory bond.
