Jason Benzaken

Attorney Jason Benzaken, a native of the Washington Heights neighborhood in New York City, serves as a partner at the Benzaken, Maguire, Sheehan & Wood, LLP, located in Brockton, Massachusetts. His practice area encompasses criminal defense, postconviction litigation and civil rights litigation. 

Mr. Benzaken embarked on his legal career after relocating to Boston to attend Northeastern University School of Law. Upon earning his law degree, he commenced his professional journey as a staff attorney with the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Brockton, Massachusetts, where he dedicated his efforts to representing indigent defendants in Superior Court.

In 2006, after gaining substantial experience in public defense, Mr. Benzaken transitioned into private practice with a focus on criminal appeals. Despite his move into private practice, his commitment to public service remained steadfast. Since 2011, he has served as the supervising attorney for the bar advocate program in Plymouth County, playing a pivotal role in the administration of the indigent defense system in Massachusetts.

Mr. Benzaken’s legal practice is concentrated on criminal defense, postconviction litigation and appeals, and civil rights litigation. He is licensed to practice in Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit. In recent years, Mr. Benzaken has honed his focus at the trial level on serious felony cases, including primarily murder cases and federal criminal offenses.
