Shawn P. O'Rourke

Attorney O'Rourke has over thirty years of experience providing diligent representation to clients who have been seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, construction accidents, slip-and-falls as well as from medical malpractice. He also represents clients in construction, real estate, evictions, and probate litigation. He is a partner at O'Rourke & Hawk, LLP, in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and serves the residents in the Boston Metropolitan area and throughout Massachusetts. 

Attorney O’Rourke’s hard work, attention to detail, and litigation skills have resulted in numerous substantial settlements for his clients, including a $7 million settlement in a construction fall case, a $6.6 million settlement in a negligent administration of anesthesia case, a $4.5 million settlement in a bicycle tractor-trailer wrongful death case, a $2.75 million settlement in a pedestrian dump truck wrongful death case, a $2.75 million settlement in a pedestrian bus wrongful death case, a $1.2 million settlement in a motor vehicle negligence case, a $1 million settlement in an ATV crash case, a $315,000 settlement in a motor vehicle negligence intersection crash case, a $275,000 settlement in a negligent security premises liability case, and a $120,000 settlement in a defective door premises liability case.  

Attorney O'Rourke graduated from Boston Latin School in 1984 and Stonehill College in 1988.  He worked for a large national insurance company handling personal injury claims before attending Suffolk University Law School where he received his law degree in 1992. He then served as a law clerk at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court for the Honorable Neil L. Lynch, after which he was employed at a mid-sized Boston litigation firm for 19 years focusing primarily on medical malpractice, motor vehicle accident, construction accident, and other personal injury cases as well as real estate and probate litigation. Attorney O’Rourke rose to the level of Partner and Managing Partner of the firm. In 2012, he formed O’Rourke & Hawk, LLP with Attorney Renee Hawk where he has continued to handle serious personal injury and wrongful death cases as well as construction, real estate and probate litigation.  Attorney Hawk focuses on family law. 

Within his legal community, Attorney O’Rourke is a member of several legal organizations, including the Massachusetts Bar Association, the New Hampshire Bar Association, and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has been rated Distinguished* through Martindale-Hubbell and holds an “Excellent” rating on Avvo.
