Melissa A. Pomfred

Representing clients in Boston and Worcester, Massachusetts, and the surrounding metropolitan areas, Melissa A. Pomfred is an attorney with Pomfred Law Offices, PLLC. Before starting her firm, she worked for almost a decade in Western and Central Massachusetts legal aid, fighting for tenant and employee rights. Her practice areas are diverse and include the following: workers’ compensation claims, hearings and appeals, unemployment insurance benefits, unpaid wages, unpaid commissions and bonuses, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, sexual harassment, failure to provide accommodations for disability, workplace harassment and discrimination, severance agreements, and contract drafting, review and negotiation.

During her time as an attorney, Ms. Pomfred has become familiar with the Severance Agreements Leave Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Massachusetts Small Necessities Leave Act, the Massachusetts Parental Leave Act, and other federal and state disability laws. She earned her undergraduate degree in English and psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, then went on to earn a graduate degree from Boston University in Human Resource Education.

Ms. Pomfred then attended the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor and is now admitted to practice in the state of Massachusetts. As a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, she was part of a committee that worked for the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination to redraft the Massachusetts Parental Leave Guidelines.

She is a member of a long list of professional organizations. These include the Worcester County Bar Association, the Middlesex County Bar Association, the Bar Association of Norfolk County, the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Employment Lawyers Association.
