    Attorney Profile

Attorney Jill Havens is the founder and principal of the Law Office of Jill Havens in Boston, Massachusetts. Serving workers throughout the Greater Boston metro region and all across the state, Ms. Havens devotes her practice to helping employees obtain justice for their complex legal challenges involving employment discrimination and harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and other workplace issues.

Ms. Havens recently obtained justice for a client in a disability discrimination jury trial in Lawrence Superior Court, where the judgment entered for the plaintiff was just over $1 million.

Ms. Havens is one of only a handful of attorneys in the Boston area with a large focus in the domain of Unemployment Insurance Law.  Ms. Havens assists clients in obtaining Unemployment Insurance by aiding employees in their application process, coaching them regarding providing information to the Department of Unemployment Assistance, representing them in Unemployment Hearings and assisting them with appeals. Ms. Havens once worked as a staff attorney for the Board of Review - the Massachusetts unemployment appeals board - thus she has invaluable insight into the system, which helps her more effectively secure benefits on behalf of those she serves.

A veteran of 100+ cases, Ms. Havens has achieved notable success advocating on behalf of those in need.  Regarded as one of the top employment law attorneys in the region, Ms. Havens has earned top marks for her professionalism and service, and she received the Client's Choice Award for Employment Law from AVVO - where she has a review score of 5 stars. Active in her legal community, she is a member of the executive board for the Massachusetts chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, and she chairs the organization's unemployment insurance committee. She is also a champion for the rights of those in the LGBTQ community, working tirelessly to ensure they receive the fair treatment they deserve in the workplace.

A 1989 cum laude graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia, Ms. Havens attended Northeastern University School of Law on a Public Interest Scholarship, obtaining her Juris Doctor in 2009. She received her license to practice that same year from the Massachusetts Bar Association, and she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
