Petronila Veras-Rizwan

Serving clients across the Essex County and Middlesex County, Petronila Veras-Rizwan works for the Gómez & Martinez, LLC, in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Her practice area focuses on helping clients with various aspects of the immigration law.

Graduating with a law degree from the Massachusetts School of Law, Ms. Veras-Rizwan has been licensed to practice in Massachusetts since 2016. During law school, she received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for academic achievement in district court trial procedure. She also holds a M.S. in justice studies from the Southern New Hampshire University and a B.A. in legal studies from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Her other bar admissions include the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

During law school, Ms. Veras-Rizwan worked as an administrative assistant at the youth advocacy division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services. After graduation, she joined a law firm as a staff attorney, working on legal research and writing drafts for cases involving immigration, probate and criminal law matters. The experience she gained during those three years helped improve her legal acumen and client representation skills.

Fluent in Spanish and English, Ms. Veras-Rizwan serves a diverse range of clients from the immigrant community. Witnessing her family members suffer in the immigration system, she took up a passion for the law, wanting to help people going through the same troubling circumstances. She has helped several clients facing deportation and other immigration law issues before the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Executive Office for Immigration Review and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

An active member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Ms. Veras-Rizwan also maintains professional affiliations with legal associations such as the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys.
