Details

Attorney Andrew M. Abraham is a partner with the Keches Law Group, which has six office locations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Serving clients throughout Massachusetts, Mr. Abraham devotes his practice to personal injury law, and he has achieved notable success assisting clients with obtaining the maximum amount of compensation they deserve for the injuries and losses they suffered as the result of someone else's negligence.

Although he has handled all types of personal injury and wrongful death claims throughout his career, Mr. Abraham has maintained a particular focus on claims involving traumatic brain injuries, tractor-trailer accidents, construction site accidents and defective products. From his efforts, he has secured numerous substantial settlements and awards, including many seven-figure verdicts that stand as among the largest ever awarded in the state.

A 1988 graduate of the Deerfield Academy, Mr. Abraham received his Bachelor of Arts from Bates College in 1992. He then attended Suffolk University Law School, where he obtained his Juris Doctor cum laude in 1995. The Massachusetts Bar Association admitted him to practice that same year, and Mr. Abraham has devoted his entire legal career to advocating on behalf of personal injury victims and their families.

Widely regarded as a leader in his field, Mr. Abraham has conducted numerous lectures and continuing legal education seminars across his region on a variety of topics. An engaging speaker, he has received many positive reviews from those who attended his lectures for his in-depth knowledge and insightfulness, particularly in the area of neuroimaging as it relates to traumatic brain injuries.

In addition, Mr. Abraham once served as president of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, and he holds the designation of being the youngest attorney to ever hold the position. He has also served as chair for the organization's Education Committee. Among his other professional affiliations, Mr. Abraham is a member of the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts and the North American Brain Injury Society. He is also highly active with the American Association for Justice and the organization's Product Liability, Tractor Trailer Crash and Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation groups.

Verdicts/Settlements (Case Results):
  • 5,000,000 verdict A 22 year-old trade school graduate was working as a roofer at a residential construction site in Kingston, MA, when he fell from ladder staging erected by his employer.  While the roofer was working atop the staging, one of the ladders supporting it sank into the soil in which it was positioned.  This caused the staging to shift, and Our client to be thrown 20 feet to the ground below.  As a result, our client sustained fractures to his right, dominant wrist, pelvis and sacrum.  Plaintiff also incurred a herniated lumbar disc and sustained mild injury to his right shoulder.  Plaintiff was air-lifted to Mass. General, and then treated a Mt. Sinai Rehabilitation Hosp. in Stoughton.  We were able to prove that the contractor failed to provide proper supervision at the construction site, and allowed a running garden hose to saturate the ground on which this staging was positioned.  Based upon research, the $5M verdict was one of the largest in the history of Plymouth County as well as one of the largest “non-economic” verdicts in the state history at the time. It was also the 4th largest injury verdict in the state in, 2008
  • 5,425,000 recovery Our client suffered a severe brain injury as a result of a car crash.  Through the latest techniques in neuro-imaging and work with an expert neuroradiologist and a neuro-imaging lab in Utah, we were able to demonstrate atrophy in important parts of our client’s brain.  Further, we converted our client’s MRI scans into a 3D model of the her brain, graphically illustrating the damage done to her brain.  In addition, we put together a multidisciplinary team to advocate for the victim’s future medical care needs.  As a result of the settlement, the victim’s medical needs will be taken care of for the rest of her life, and she is now able to live independently, with assistance.   According Mass. Lawyers’ Weekly, the settlement was the 2nd Largest Brain Injury settlement in the State and the 5th largest injury settlement overall in, 2009
  • $5,500,000 recovery-$4,500,000 Verdict Our client suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in a fight outside of a bar. Our client brought suit against one of the largest bar owners in Massachusetts.  The case was rejected by another law firm based upon erroneous/incomplete information in the police report.  A year after the incident, Attorney Abraham tracked down key witnesses and discovered that the bar broke promises to the liquor licensing board and that their staff was unaware of the safety rules.  During the four week trial, Attorney Abraham presented advanced neuroimaging (3tMRI, DTI and SWI) illustrating to the jury the damage to his white matter (axonal shearing) as well as microhemorrhage throughout the brain not picked up by standard CT/MRI scan and lastly significant cerebral atrophy.  This was essential to counter the defense’s claim that the client made a full recovery because he returned to work and was gambling at Mohegan Sun. There was no offer at the start of the trial and only a $150,000 offer in the middle of trial. The verdict will allow our client’s medical needs to be met for the rest of his life. According  to Mass. Lawyers Weekly, the verdict was the 2nd largest personal injury verdict in the state and the largest brain injury verdict in the state in, 2012
Representative Clients:
  • My family and I would like to sincerely thank Andrew Abraham for his dedication to our case. We were a young family living pay check to paycheck without any savings. I was involved in a tractor trailer accident and had both of my legs crushed. It was a scary time. My injuries were severe. I was worried I would not be able to provide for my family financially for a very long time. I spent some of my time in a hospital that was located two and a half hours away. After speaking with many attorneys who would not take the case, it was getting very frustrating. After retaining Attorney Abraham, we knew immediately that  Andrew was right for us.   Andrew provided the kind of personal attention that made us feel comfortable. They started to feel like family instead of the attorneys. He was always very professional and responsive to our many phone calls and questions. We had many. He walked us through every step of the process. He would carry out a few scenarios at a time, break them down and analyze them. This would prepare them and us for what would be ahead. He was always thinking outside the box. We don’t have many worries any longer. If you ever find yourself in a situation when you need an attorney,  we know a great one who we call our friend, Andrew Abraham. Tell them Joe and De said hello., 2008
  • Due to faulty electrical work by an outside company, my husband suffered a brain injury during an accident while at work.  We subsequently filed a personal injury suit represented by another law firm. With the sole breadwinner disabled, and four small children, three with special needs, we were easy targets for an unscrupulous insurance agency or a self-interested attorney. The case did not settle quickly and it appeared we were headed for litigation. At that point, Andrew Abraham, and his firm, was asked to join the case.  Little did we know that decision would change the direction of our case and subsequently, the direction of our lives.   Andrew was brilliant, hard working, innovative and honest (!) from the start.  He purposely kept his caseload small so that he could devote the time and attention needed to maximize the potential of our case. He evaluated our case and told us our strong points and conversely our weaknesses. He worked feverishly to bring out the truth by plugging any holes and to sure up our advantages.  He was accessible continuously throughout the duration of our case. Andrew was ready for every detail and every deadline, even when there was a strong possibility of others moving the deadline. Whenever the insurance company, or their (unscrupulous) “experts” tried to sway, or more accurately twist, the details of the case it was unnerving for us. However, that’s when I believe Andrew would get re-energized.  That’s when his own expertise, innovation, and determination would shine, anew!   I noted several times during our case that Andrew could have “advised”, or pressured, us in a direction that would have been not only easier but also more financially expedient for him.  He did not.  Andrew is a very caring person and understands the stress the client is under and that their future may be in his hands. Andrew was never driven by his own bottom line. We found him sincere, honest, and intelligent.  He always went the extra mile for us, and our case.  In the end, our outcome literally changed the direction of our lives.  We are now able to comfortably provide for ourselves, and our children, and their needs. We have become unable to think of Andrew as “our attorney” but rather more proudly, are now honored, to think of him as  friend., 2006
