James A. Kobe

Attorney James A. Kobe is a principal at James A. Kobe, P.C., in Newton, Massachusetts. With more than two decades of legal experience, Mr. Kobe dedicates his practice to commercial litigation and employment law, serving clients in Newton and throughout Massachusetts including in Middlesex, Norfolk and Suffolk Counties.

After graduating magna cum laude from Amherst College, Mr. Kobe went on to earn his law degree from Boston College Law School, where he also graduated magna cum laude. During law school, he was a member of law review and belonged to the Order of the Coif.

Mr. Kobe is committed to doing everything possible to tailor his approach to the needs of each client. He represents both individuals and corporations in business, real estate and other commercial matters. His employment law experience includes negotiating employment and separation agreements on behalf of individuals and employers, and negotiating, mediating and litigating claims involving compensation, discrimination and harassment.  He also advises businesses on employment policies and practices. 

Along with significant trial experience, Mr. Kobe has participated in administrative proceedings and is also familiar with alternative dispute resolution techniques such as arbitration and mediation.

Mr. Kobe has been licensed to practice law in Massachusetts since 1986 and is also licensed to appear before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Before founding his practice, he spent more than 10 years working as an associate and a partner at a private Boston-based law firm. He has litigated both state and federal claims.

An active participant of the Massachusetts legal community, Mr. Kobe is a member of the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. He also belongs to the American Bar Association.
