Laura Gillis

A veteran attorney with years of experience, Laura Gillis leaves no stone unturned when fighting for her clients, helping their children access the full potential of their education. The founding attorney of Gillis Law LLC in Topsfield, Massachusetts, she is well-equipped to handle myriad matters pertaining to education law, including special education, bullying, Title IX and school discipline, among many others. 

Ms. Gillis made her first foray into the legal profession through enrollment in the New England Law | Boston, where she bolstered her shrewd legal acumen and talents that still inform her clients today. Prior to receiving her Juris Doctor in 1997 and her license to practice law in Massachusetts the same year, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.

Ms. Gillis has made it her mission to help others avoid the battles she had to fight, creating a legal practice that takes into account all the needs of her clients’ children so they have every opportunity to get the education they deserve without facing obstacles or challenges. Within her legal community, Ms. Gillis has emerged as a pillar of leadership through her enduring practice, helping progress the standard of client care in her industry to even greater heights. She is a highly sought after speaker in Massachusetts and nationally at the Lehigh Education Law Symposium. She maintains close affiliations with prominent legal organizations such as the Women’s Bar of Massachusetts, and at the Massachusetts Bar Association, she is a former co-chair of the Juvenile and Child Welfare Section’s Special Education Law Practice Group. In addition, she is also a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates and the Special Needs Advocacy Network. Ms. Gillis is also licensed to practice in Federal Court.
