Janice C. Nigro

Principal attorney at Nigro, Pettepit & Lucas, LLP, Janice C. Nigro provides legal services to her clients in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Practicing law for 40 years, she takes on cases covering estate and trust administration, estate planning, elder law, will contests, probate and trust litigation, real estate and partition proceedings. Further, she provides clients with strategic legal advice, enabling them to make informed business and personal decisions.

As an avid advocate, Ms. Nigro has established a comprehensive civil practice focusing on estates. She helps clients create wills and trusts, and manages estates and trusts following the death of a loved one and helps resolve disputes related to estate administration and distribution. Often, she guides clients in coping with extremely stressful times, avoiding future legal pitfalls. As a result, her client's problem becomes her own. Ms. Nigro served as a member of a unified team of practitioners, clerks and judges, including as the past chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association Probate Council, to promote the enactment of the Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code, which has had a profound influence on the way estates are planned and processed. As a proficient author and speaker, she has acted as faculty for many seminars on the new probate laws as well as other topics. Furthermore, she educates her colleagues about changes in probate laws. Currently, she contributes as a co-chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association Annual Probate Law Conference, admitting over 500 judges and attorneys to address recent advancements in probate law.

With her in-depth legal understanding and ability to impart her skills and time, Ms. Nigro is acclaimed as a prominent member of the legal community. She is the recipient of the 2012 Top Women of Law Award by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, and she has also made it to the list of Top Women of Massachusetts and New England for exhibiting exemplary success in private practice, business and advocacy. After graduating cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, Ms. Nigro received her J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law. She obtained her license to practice law in Massachusetts in 1983.
