Attorney Melinda J. Markvan is the founder of Markvan Law in Walpole, Massachusetts. Ms. Markvan devotes her practice to family law, representing clients in Barnstable, Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk and Worcester counties in Massachusetts.
Ms. Markvan has experience with all types of family law cases and has proven herself a compassionate and skilled advocate for her clients. Over the course of her career, she has successfully represented clients in numerous complex matters involving divorce, alimony, child custody, child support, international relocation and property division. While most family law cases are resolved out of court, she has also represented clients at trial when this has been the best way for them to reach their goals.
Prior to opening her law firm, Ms. Markvan gained family law experience as an associate attorney with a Framingham-, Massachusetts, based law firm. Before becoming a lawyer herself, she worked for many years as a paralegal and law clerk. These roles provided her with the necessary understanding and attributes to build and grow her own family law practice, dedicated to serving Massachusetts residents.
Along with running her practice, Ms. Markvan participates in pro bono and volunteer activities, and is active in the Boston Bar Association, serving on the association’s Steering Committee. She also contributes to the association’s Family Law Newsletter.
Ms. Markvan received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and women’s studies from Goucher College, in Baltimore, Maryland. She earned her law degree from Massachusetts School of Law, Andover. She obtained her license to practice law in 2010, which made her eligible to appear and practice before all Massachusetts state courts.
