She earned her Juris Doctor in 1994 and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in the same year. She is further admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
As an attorney who helps clients manage the challenges that come with aging, Ms. Bassett leads a team providing a multi-dimensional approach to elder law and estate planning. She not only provides legal advice but also hires a social worker and a fiduciary professional to help them in all aspects of their issue. She also assists them with resources to help with veteran benefits, Medicaid programming, Social Security and Medicare. Always adapting to the dynamic nature of laws, she stays abreast of the new developments, ensuring she provides her clients with the best opportunities.
Staying committed to her mission of protecting the rights of the underrepresented, Ms. Bassett has served as a council member of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section of the State Bar of Michigan and on the National Family Law Advisory Committee to the National Center for Lesbian Rights. Currently, she serves as co-chair of the Estate Planning, Probate & Trust Law Section of the Washtenaw County Bar Association.
