    About Marla Linderman

    Admitted: 1996, Michigan

    Honors/Awards:

    • Ms. Linderman was awarded this honor for earning "a reputation among her colleagues as an expert in civil rights law, a crusader for those who've been unjustly singled out, and a person with remarkable energy.", Up and Coming Lawyer, Michigan Lawyer's Weekly, 1997
    • The Regeana Myrick Award is the only award given by the State Bar of Michigan to new lawyers.  Only one attorney per year is bestowed this honor.  The award celebrates young lawyers who give of their time and talents to serve the community and the bar. Ms. Linderman was the fourth recipient to receive this award. The State Bar issued the following statement about Marla Linderman. "Ms. Linderman’s service to the community has truly been outstanding.  Ms. Linderman is actively involved in Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley and provides pro bono legal services to the organization allowing it to effectively serve the community.  In addition, Ms. Linderman worked with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights to actively advocate for the rights of citizens to file discrimination complaints and helped create a process that allows improved filing of such complaints.  In addition, Ms. Linderman has taken an active role in rallying support for One United Michigan.  Further, Ms. Linderman has coordinated Law Day for Washtenaw County over the last few years where 20 to 30 lawyers devote their time to provide pro bono legal services for the community.  Beyond the accomplishments noted above, Ms. Linderman dedicated countless hours to providing pro bono services to the community, educating the community, and serving the bar in various leadership roles including with the Washtenaw County Bar, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, and the Washtenaw Trial Lawyers Association.  Ms. Linderman’s record of service is exemplary and we are happy to acknowledge her outstanding achievements with this award. Regeana Myrick, the award’s namesake, was an active member of the Young Lawyers Section and also served on its Executive Council. In her unfortunately short career as a lawyer, Ms. Myrick exemplified the commitment to service to the public that the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award represents. Her unfortunate passing left a void in the legal community. It is for these reasons that the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award is named after Ms. Myrick today.", Regeana Myrick Outstanding Young Lawyers Award, State Bar of Michigan, 2005
