As a trusted leader in the fight for elder justice, Emily represents the victims of nursing home abuse and neglect and medical malpractice. She has seen the tragedies that occur when vulnerable people – those who are unable to care or speak for themselves – are placed in the hands of untrained workers, and has litigated numerous cases against nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and adult foster-care homes for this unacceptable negligence.
Emily also brings a unique perspective to our firm as she represented nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and hospitals during her first 10 years of practice. Having served the opposite side of her current clientele, Emily is able to see the case from both sides of the table and bring a well-rounded approach to every claim.
“Emily is extremely compassionate,” said Marlene W., a recent client. “She came all the way to Florida for our deposition, and made herself available to my entire family any time we needed her. She spent a great deal of time making us feel comfortable throughout the entire legal process.”
But Emily’s advocacy for elder justice extends well beyond the court room. She’s been selected as a SuperLawyer Rising Star on six occasions, and is an active member in several of Michigan’s leading justice organizations, including: the Michigan Association for Justice, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association and the Macomb County Bar Association. Emily also serves on the board of governors for the American Association for Justice, and advocates on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Emily was admitted into the Bar in 2004 after earning her Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Wayne State University. Prior to grad school, Emily attended Michigan State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in international relations.
