J. Kelly Carley

A senior trial attorney at McKeen & Associates, P.C., Attorney J. Kelly Carley is on a mission to hold large corporations and hospitals accountable for the injuries they or their associates cause through acts of carelessness or negligence. Mr. Carley began his now three-decades-long career representing physicians and hospitals in 1986. After 10 years, he took his knowledge and insight to the other side, where he has since represented victims of medical malpractice, podiatric malpractice and maritime accidents throughout Michigan and Ohio.

Mr. Carley is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan and the Michigan State University College of Law. While attending the latter, he participated in the American Bar Association Moot Court competition. He also received a Moot Court Scholarship, coached the National Moot Court Team and served as a director for the Moot Court Executive Board.  

Mr. Carley uses his skill, experience and education to level the playing field for victims of negligence. Since joining McKeen & Associates in 2013, he has participated in several high-profile and complex medical malpractice cases. Among other notable verdicts and settlements, Mr. Carley helped to secure a $2.7 million verdict, for damage that occurred during a hernia surgery; a $3.5 million verdict for the death of an infant, for failure to diagnose and treat Hirschsprung’s disease; and a $3.9 million verdict for the preventable death of a 47-year-old wife and mother.

In 2020, Mr. Carley joined other prestigious attorneys as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. When he is not defending the rights of injured persons and their families, you can find him playing golf, studying WWII or cheering on a local sports team.
